Hallohallo Entertainment (HHE) announced in a press release that it will be partnering with ABS-CBN to bring MNL48 to Philippine television.
“We’re very excited for this partnership and with ABS-CBN as the home for our new project, we’re very positive that this will be one of our biggest milestones yet,” said HHE president Paulo Kurosawa.
HHE will be spearheading the project while the Kapamilya network will serve as the media outlet for the new talent search.
Back in December 2015, the AKB48 group announced “the birth of 3 sister groups” in Taiwan, the Philippines, and Thailand. The MNL48 project was confirmed in March 2016, with online auditions beginning last December 2016.
MNL48 will be an all-female group in the Philippines and is one of the newest sister groups of the Japanese idol group and pop music phenomenon AKB48. The group will be divided into three teams and will follow a ranking system similar to that of AKB48.
